WOMEN AT THE WELL: Transitions

This retreat is for women who are experiencing transition in:

  • Health and well-being
  • Work and creativity
  • Relationships
  • Finances
  • Changing roles and identity

Transition times are a paradox. At a time when we feel the most unsettled we are called to return to our true nature.  We’ve outgrown where we were and haven’t yet found solid footing on the other side. Without a community and tools to support these in between states – that provide the space for listening, curiosity, and exploration – we are on our own to figure things out. It can be a scary and lonely place.

Angeles Arrien taught that in times of transition we must return to our true nature and befriend the four essential symbolic bones in our body:

the backbone – the quality of courage
the wishbone – life dreams, wishes, and hopes

the funny bone – keep our sense of humor
the hollow little bone – maintain openness, curiosity, and faith

Accessing our own wisdom requires contemplation and integration, neither of which can happen in the fast lane. Transitions are a call for us to come back into nature’s rhythm, to slow down, be still, and listen to our deeper stirrings. An African proverb says: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Good company can ease the anxiety of transition – with women on a similar path doing their own work while learning together.

Learning from perennial wisdom, reflective practice, and the wisdom of the circle you will receive:

  • Tools to nourish your inner well
  • Ways to avoid the pitfalls of perfectionism
  • Strategies to set healthy limits and boundaries
  • Qualities that strengthen compassionate self-care
  • Magical, unpredictable synchronicities

Women at the Well is a gift to yourself. Mary creates an environment where it is simply enough to show up and be yourself. I found it to be a deep, rejeuvenating and easeful weekend.  I loved how much space we had to reflect, absorb, integrate…and how simple and uncomplicated it felt. I highly recommend it.” Emily Shepard

Who is Mary?

I am a consultant, teacher, artist and entrepreneur. I specialize in change leadership, team development, and designing environments for learning and engagement. I founded Tracking the Wisdom, LLC, in 1998. My international clients span corporate, not for profit, education, and healthcare sectors.

As an artist and entrepreneur, creativity is the air I breathe. I am a certified teacher of the renowned Creativity in Business program pioneered in the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I have led programs on creativity and innovation for corporate teams, entrepreneurs and individuals. I also write a blog – Creativity For the Rest of Us – exploring everyday creativity.

Women’s circles have been my passion for almost two decades. I have had the privilege to convene circles for women around the world. I am continually inspired by our stories of courage, compassion, resiliency, and the magical synergy no one can predict when you bring women of great heart together and unleash them into what’s possible. I teach The Spirit of Circle program to women desiring to start an intentional circle of their own.

My recent experience with treatment for throat cancer awakened me to the power of what we give voice to. It deepened my expertise in compassionate self-care and creativity as a portal for personal growth.

For twenty years, I was blessed to be a protégé of the late Angeles Arrien, well-known author of The Four Fold Way. I am committed to carrying on her work in the world.

Whatever domain(s) of transition you are currently in you will benefit from this program.  Join me to activate a life alive with heart and meaning.

“The impact Women at the Well has made on me is unlike any other experience in my life.  I was surrounded by amazing beauty; in the physical surroundings and in the spirits of the amazing women who arrived at the Well.   Through Mary, we arrived as “important strangers” and left forever connected.” – Tracy Hoffman
